Consulting & Strategy
Bridging the gap between technical complexity and business value.
Cody Peterson - Engineering Business Growth
I'm a software engineer with 4 years of experience building scalable, mission-critical systems in C#/.NET. I started as a DevOps Engineer, moved into a Tech Lead role, and now work as an Architect on a large-scale government project, designing backend services, mentoring developers, and making sure the systems I build actually hold up under real-world pressure.
Outside of enterprise work, I spend a lot of time in Unity and Three.js building real-time 3D applications, everything from multiplayer combat games to physics simulations. I'm drawn to problems that sit at the intersection of software architecture, real-time systems, and interactive design. Whether that's architecting a CI/CD pipeline that cuts deployment from 4 hours to 15 minutes, or wiring up WebSocket state sync for a multiplayer game, I care about building things that work well and are built to last.
System Architecture
Designing resilient, high-availability infrastructure that scales with your user base and reduces technical debt.

View Examples ↓IRIS Enterprise Platform
Architected a highly available enterprise system (99.9% uptime) serving 500+ users at In Time Tec. Designed core backend components in C#/.NET handling complex business logic, data processing, and system integrations, with a focus on scalability and long-term maintainability.
Hollow Duel
Designed a real-time multiplayer architecture using WebSockets and Firebase for synchronized game state across clients. Built a Souls-like 3D combat system with Three.js requiring low-latency state management and authoritative server logic.
Autonomous Robotics Turret
Co-developed an autonomous targeting system integrating computer vision (Python) with real-time hardware control (C++). Architected the communication layer between sensors, actuators, and the vision pipeline for cohesive real-time operation.
DevOps to Architect in 2 Years
Rapidly advanced from DevOps Engineer to Tech Lead to Architect on a large-scale government project. Translated complex business requirements into actionable technical tasks and enforced architectural consistency through rigorous code reviews.
Engineering Team Management
Managed and mentored a software engineering team, improving productivity by 25% through process optimization and technical guidance. Established code review standards focused on performance and long-term maintainability.
Module Lifecycle Delivery
Led the complete development lifecycle for a major system module on the IRIS platform, from technical design through production deployment. Aligned technology decisions with long-term business goals and resource constraints.
IRIS Platform: C#/.NET Core
Designed and implemented core backend services handling complex business logic, data processing pipelines, and third-party integrations for an enterprise system used by hundreds of government employees daily.
Castle Defender
Built an asymmetric castle defense/RTS game in Unity combining real-time strategy mechanics with physics-based interactions. Implemented game systems, AI behavior trees, and responsive UI from scratch using C# scripting.
Fitness Level Tracking
Developed a desktop fitness application for tracking multiple athletes' performance metrics. Built the data layer, UI components, and progression algorithms to deliver actionable insights from workout data.
Deployment Pipeline: 4 Hours to 15 Minutes
Engineered and fully automated the CI/CD pipeline using Azure DevOps, reducing deployment time by 94% and eliminating manual errors for a mission-critical government system.
Document Template Automation
Independently developed a PowerShell tool automating mass edits of Word document templates, saving approximately 40 hours of manual effort and eliminating human error from a repetitive process.
ML Speech Recognition
Built a machine learning project allowing users to teach the program speech recognition through iterative training. Optimized the training pipeline for faster convergence and reduced processing overhead.
I communicate directly and keep the technical noise low. You get clear status updates, honest assessments when something isn't viable, and architecture decisions explained in terms of trade-offs, not jargon. I don't disappear once scoping is done.
I'm comfortable in environments with real constraints like GCC environments, Managed Identity auth, federal compliance requirements, approval chains, and the kind of bureaucratic friction that slows down less experienced contractors. I've operated as an Architect on a mission-critical government system; I know how to move carefully and still deliver.
My preference is to own problems end-to-end: from discovery and architecture through implementation and production. I'll tell you what I think the right approach is, explain why, and build it. If your requirements change mid-project, we adapt. The goal is a system that works reliably, not one that looks good in a slide deck.
AI-Augmented Development
I use AI tooling (Claude API, Claude Code) daily as a force multiplier, not as a crutch but as an accelerant for the parts of engineering that benefit from it. More importantly, I've built production AI integrations: multi-provider LLM abstraction layers, rate limiting, caching, fallback chains, and RAG patterns. I work in this space as an architect, not just a user.
